About Me. Hmm, kind of sounds like that interview question doesn’t it? … “Tell me about yourself.” ….and suddenly you forget everything you were about to say.
Yep, that’s me!
Well, let’s start with… I’m in the administrative assisting field. … I know, obvious right?
I’ve been in the admin field for many years now and have wanted to get out of it almost about that long. In college, I got an AA degree in Sociology and an AAS is Office Admin and Technology and wish I would have known that it WAS NOT a means to get a foot in the door and it would become a permanent A on my chest. A for Assistant…as in…only good for assistant jobs. This is how I felt and how I feel anyway. I know many other people feel the same and hate being pigeonholed into one area and is treated like they cannot do anything else.
I am on a mission to better myself and help others do the same. I want to get out of this rut of admin only positions and do something better; something more meaningful. I’ve created the forums for A is for Assistant so we can all help each other and share ideas.
I hope you enjoy and can laugh at some of my upcoming posts. I have a feeling that some people will be nodding their heads while reading since they may have experienced something similar. This is my way to vent and let the stress out. I hope it doesn’t become a strictly bitch session blog but if it does, sorry…not sorry.
Thank you for reading if you’ve actually gotten this far in this about me section. I hope we can make everyone’s day better by sharing stories and helpful hints on the forums.
I will leave you with my favorite quote. It is my favorite since I fear that the classes I’m taking and lessons I’m learning to go above admin will take forever and this quote helps keep me in check.
